Carlotta Singular la Magnifica wins $50,000 Grand Prix

20 august 2012

Yann Candele and Carlotta Singular la Magnifica, who was sold by Stal Horn a few years ago won the Grand Prix at the inaugural Orangeville Show Jumping Tournaments held August 15-19 at the Orangeville Agricultural Society (OAS) Event Centre in Orangeville, ON
Candele and Carlotta Singular la Magnifica were one of six horse/rider combinations to jump clear and advance to the jump-off over the track set by two-time Olympic course designer Leopoldo Palacios of Venezuela, who arrived directly from London.  As the last rider to return to the grass ring for the jump-off, Candele had the advantage of knowing exactly what he had to do to win.  None of the other riders who had gone before him had been able to turn in a clear round, leaving the door open for Candele and Carlotta to post a fault-free performance.
“She was really great today,” said Candele of Carlotta Singular la Magnifica, a 10-year-old bay Hannoverian mare owned by Susan Grange.  “I was the last to go in the jump-off and no one had gone clear before me, so I made the decision not to run her hard, and instead try for the clear round.  She delivered just like I knew she would.  It was a very exciting class.”
